In honor of Women’s History Month, we are pleased to be able to offer excerpts from Until We Sleep Our Last Sleep, a diary written by Emily Millikan Blair, in the NCFHS Spring 2021 newsletter. The subtitle for the work is My Quaker grandmother’s diary of faith and community amid depression and disability. The book is now available courtesy of Emily’s namesake and two times great granddaughter, Emily W. Skinner. Emily Ann Millikan Blair (1845-1930) and John Addison Blair (1843-1920) married December 14, 1864. Four children lived to adulthood: Margaret Ellen “Maggie” Blair Moffitt (born 1865), Jesse Carter Blair (born 1868), Freddie Clinton Blair (born 1881), and Mary Eliza “May” Blair Stilwell Peace (born 1885).
