Mission Statement:
The purpose of the North Carolina Friends
Historical Society is to collect, preserve, and publish valuable information
relative to the history of the Society of Friends in North Carolina and adjacent
territories. Also, to work in harmony and cooperation with a) the librarian of
the Friends Historical Collection at Guilford College; b) the North Carolina
Yearly Meeting's Committee on the Care of Records; and c) the
North Carolina Yearly Meeting's Publications Board.
About the Society: Founded in 1940, the North Carolina Friends Historical Society is open to all interested persons and is comprised of historians, genealogists, individuals with Quaker ancestors, authors, and those interested in Quaker history, professionals as well as amateurs. New members are welcome and invited
to join the Society. Membership benefits include quarterly newsletters,
the journal Quaker History twice a year, and occasional special events,
including an annual meeting, most often on the first Saturday in
November.
Some of the featured speakers at the annual meeting in recent years have
been Eleanor and Hal Pugh from New Salem Pottery, Abigail Rogers, a
Guilford College graduate, and Damon Hickey. |
